Susan Jaffe was one of the first people to join Smith’s board of directors, and served in that capacity from 2004-2012, bringing expertise in city planning and architecture as Chair of the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment and member of the Historical Commission. She is an admired community leader and a true friend to Smith.
The Vanguard Crew is comprised of employees of the Malvern-based investment management company who volunteer thousands of hours annually to nonprofits in the region. Since 2011, Vanguard Crew members volunteered an incredible 1,600 hours at Smith, lending sweat-equity and skills-based projects to complement our staff resources.
Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse has been a treasured destination for over 100 years. Smith strives to be Philadelphia’s foremost resource for play by providing opportunities for unstructured creative play for children 10 & younger. Smith contributes to the development of healthy children, strong families, and safe communities by: 1) maintaining a proud tradition of free family admission; 2) partnering with community-based organizations to reach a diverse audience; and 3) advocating for the importance of play.
